Bodybuilding and Eating Disorders

As a sport where men and women are judged on body shape, size, muscularity, leanness and conditioning, bodybuilding competition requires dedication, discipline and a sound mind. It is a sound mind that directs how a person’s health can be affected. Can ‘dedication’ to this sport sometimes be a mask for underlying health risks?

This presentation examines what coaches should look for, how to determine risk, in particular for bodybuilding competition and appropriate communication with someone who is considered a risk for developing an eating disorder.
